REVIEW-REAPER (BOSTON UNDERGROUND #2) BY A. ZAVARELLI

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

"Tell me to stop," he chokes out. "Tell me not to touch you."~Ronan

Hells bells. A, Zavarelli is KILLING ME and I'm loving every minute of it. This is a new to me author,  that I already gave the first installment, Crow, 5 stars (you can read my review HERE and now yet ANOTHER 5 stars for book 2? That just doesn't happen.

We met the tall, brooding question mark of a man in book 1. Ronan, aka Reaper, is...gah, I feel like broken isn't exactly the right word to describe him. He's a machine and has been since he was very young. What he knows, he knows well, everything else though,...basic, simple, human emotions and interactions are completely lost on him.  He's always dressed to the nines and his child like brown eyes shine through black rimmed glasses. And then...he blushes. Done. I was totally and completely done for.

He's nicknamed Reaper for a reason and again, what he does, he does well but it's brutal and mindless and in the back of his mind, he thinks that maybe, just maybe, he's worth more, ready to come out of the basement. And of course, there's a girl. The love story that plays out is stunning, raw and beautiful. The development was flawless and the chemistry is off the charts. White hot sex scenes that will both break and melt your heart simultaneously. While really impressive, it's his relationships with other characters that earned 5 stars from me.

Lachlan, aka Crow, from book 1 is his brother, in every way that matters. He can get through to Ronan in a way that no one else can. Crow has a good handle on how to keep Ronan level without robbing him of his pride. I love their interactions, each and every time. The backstory on how Crow and his mother came across Ronan...sigh, have your Kleenex ready.

Then we have Ronan's very reluctant friendship with Mack. This is where I fan-girl'ed the hardest. These two couldn't be more opposite. She's like a hyper little Chihuahua biting at his ankle but one that he doesn't have the heart to take to the pound. She annoys the ever living shit out of him and yet she has a soft spot for him and even though she doesn't know his background, she wants to help him find his happiness and in many ways, his child like interactions with her are heartbreaking yet you'll have a giant smile on your face the entire time.

Sigh...I just love this series, this author, can't wait for more!

*This is a dark read that may be difficult for some readers, various 'triggers' throughout.
