REVIEW-THE MATING GAME BY MELISSA SNARK

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

***Please note, this book was gifted by the author in exchange for an honest review***

Friends, lovers, rivals and ALPHAS, The Mating Game by Melissa Snark has it all. The Iron Stone pack has trouble brewing and it's very future is in jeopardy. Even though Theresa Sanchez is low on food chain, so to speak, when she goes into heat, her stock rises. The pack needs young and suddenly Theresa Sanchez finds herself in quite the position...

A smooth talking ALPHA Brit AND a sleek, ebony BETA? Why yes please! Zach and Robert and best friends but they will soon find themselves facing off, only one can lead and only one can truly mark Theresa as their own, their mate...and so the games begin!

I absolutely loved the world Ms. Stark created. Have. I. Mentioned. The. Brit?! YES!!! Let me say, here and now, we need more British shifters. Zachary Hunter is delish! He's oh so proper...yet... not. ;-) His relationship with Theresa is a tricky one. His ranking far exceeds hers to the point where she feels unworthy and out of sorts. She spends her days looking after her spunky young daughter but gets sidetracked with thoughts of Zach anytime she has a minute to herself. Enter Robert, Beta and gorgeous to boot. He too deserves to lead the pack, even if it means sacrificing his own happiness or even battling to the death with his best friend.

The Mating Game is a sexy, sultry, erotic paranormal romp that screams GIRL POWER, love, lust, trust, and all the while, dances outside the box. Ms. Snark is quickly becoming one of my "go to" authors. ENJOY!!!

REVIEW-PROPHECY'S POWER (PROPHECY #3) BY BRENDA DYER

My rating: 4 out of 5 stars

"I programmed my cell number in your phone. It's under A for Asshole."

~Soren

Hells bells. I'm gonna have to do a U-turn and read books 1&2 asap! A huge thanks to the pac romance group (Goodreads) and author Brenda Dyer for allowing to participate in the Read-2-Review.

I do love me some vamps and this world they lived in was fast paced and action filled. These warriors fight for a greater good and for Soren, second in command, a matter of "wrong place at the wrong time" turned his mission upside down.

Natalie is a drywaller, she stays to herself with no real family or friends. I must say, I loathe her name. It just isn't badass enough I guess. I would have preferred she be called "Nat" throughout the story and with as much as she worked poor Soren's nerves, it would have been fitting.

This was a great pairing and I loved their back and forths and the fact that she never, NEVER backed down. Does that mean she didn't make some boneheaded choices? nope. But even her mistakes were made on her own terms.

Why not 5 stars? Some of the terms used felt a little outdated and\or cheesy that took away from the story at times. The repetitive "familiar but unfamiliar" caused a hiccup for me a time or two. I felt like the middle of the story began to drag on just a little longer than necessary as well. Even so, I really enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author!

GUEST REVIEW BY AUTHOR MELISSA SNARK-SHIFT HAPPENS BY J.C. MCKENZIE(PLUS PROMO AND GIVEAWAY!!!)

HER PAST DESTROYED HER HEART, CAN SHE PUT IT BACK TOGETHER IN TIME?

Andrea McNelly's job as a government agent is not asking questions, but then a routine assignment turns into a botched assassination of a Master Vampire's human servant. Answers become a priority. Her search to discover the truth is riddled with obstacles, the largest being an oversized Werewolf who resembles a Norse god. Andy can't afford the distraction he offers, because if she fails, she faces eternal enslavement.

Wick's job is to monitor Andy, but he prefers more intimate activities, none of them G-Rated. His choices, however, are often not his own. His ability to help Andy is limited by his bond to the Master Vampire.

Facing many trials and challenges along her path to redemption, Andy learns the value of her freedom might be set too high.

Excerpt:

A large black wolf trotted into the clearing to confront me. He had a white-tipped snout, white boots and mitts and would have looked cute had he not been the most intimidating Werewolf I’d ever seen. Standing tall and solid, power rolled off of his body. His eyes bore into mine. I sniffed the air. The strong Werewolf scent of rosemary swirled around me, strong and seductive, laced with sugar. A weird fuzzy sensation spread out from my chest. Whoa.

Alpha.

My other form growled low, demanding release, straining against my skin. The energy of the wolves built—layers upon layers of excitement and impatience. The air pulsated with anticipation. They could sense the imminent kill.

Let me out! My other form repeated, throwing her power against my built up walls, howling in defiance.

When the energy of the Werewolves surged, I finally released her. My wolf form flowed out fast, wiping out the feline in little more than a heartbeat. Smaller, weaker and the size of a natural wolf, a Shifter in this form was no match for a Werewolf, especially a dominant one. I had time to meet the eyes of the Alpha for only an instant before the pack leapt forward. My limbs shook. It went against every instinct ingrained within me, but I rolled onto my back—submissive.

REVIEW BY MELISSA SNARK

SHIFT HAPPENS by J.C. McKenzie is an action packed paranormal romance novel set against the urban Vancouver cityscape. The story is fresh in so many ways, especially the shifter heroine who has three animal forms–mountain lion, wolf and hawk–instead of just one. Throw in a whole lot of intrigue and a sexy Alpha werewolf who's bonded to a master vampire, and you have a tale that will keep you on your toes to the exciting conclusion.

The story is told in first person narration from the point of view of Andy, the heroine. The hero's thoughts/emotions are never clearly presented to the reader. I missed that aspect of the story because I'd really liked to have known what was going on inside Wick's head.   The up side is that the hero definitely maintained his aura of mystery throughout.

I loved the fact that Andy is a powerful shifter in her own right and doesn't immediately swoon at the Alpha's feet as soon as he crooked his finger. She challenges him, and it's a blast for the reader, watching as she drives him up the wall and then around in circles on the ceiling. Kudos for girl power!

The prose was solid and well-edited. The plot flowed right along with good pacing, and characterization was excellent. I really liked several secondary characters who were members of Wick's pack.  The villains were effective and creepy. (That said, I felt like there were simply too many members to the cast.) I wanted more time spent on developing the dynamic between the hero and heroine.

Andy and Wick share great chemistry. I loved how the author balances mistrust with sexual tension in conjunction with their prisoner/warden relationship. Their attraction builds slowly with plenty of missteps along the way. The heroine's emotional issues due to a past abusive relationship also add a wonderful source of internal conflict. Love scenes are spicy, richly described, and full of vivid sensory detail.

SHIFT HAPPENS is a top choice read for lovers of paranormal/ shifter romance. Happy reading!

OVERWHELMED BY YOU BY NASHODA ROSE BLOG TOUR!!! (PLAYLIST, GIVEAWAY AND MY 5 STAR REVIEW)

Overwhelmed by you blog tour banner Synopsis

Love is ugly and secrets will destroy you.

KAT I don’t beg. I don’t cry. And I don’t give second chances. Ream, the lead guitarist from the band Tear Asunder, deserves a gold medal for best dick move ever when he ran the moment he discovered my secret after two days of hot sex. Then he brings some chick to my coming home party from the hospital—after being shot. I hate him. Until … Ream’s six foot two frame unfolds out of the car after being gone on tour for eight months. I stared, unable to help myself. And in my defense, any girl would stare. It would almost be rude not to because Ream was the type of guy who stood out. Not because he had pink hair or shouted or was obnoxious. No, it was because he was the complete opposite. Subtle and dangerously quiet. If he spoke, you’d better hope he liked you because otherwise you’d be falling at his feet begging for mercy. Except me … I don’t beg—ever. But when our eyes locked, it was Ream’s confident cold indifference that had my nerves shooting off like jet sprinklers. Then… Ream told me he didn’t need a second chance because he was still working on his first. REAM Sex is ugly. It’s using someone for your own narcissistic pleasure. I did it and I hated it—until her. She was unfuckinexpected. Then I had to wreck our beginning with my screwed up past. I don’t deserve her, but I’m selfish and I’m taking her anyway. This is who I am and it’s too late to change me.

MY 5 STAR REVIEW!!!

This. That was the one (and only) word that came to mind when trying to describe this book to a friend of mine. I can't imagine how pathetic I must have looked just after I finished. Overwhelmed By You was just that, overwhelming,,, and I loved every single minute of it. This will be a reviews that I'll struggle with. I hate spoilers and I want each and every one of you to devour this book on your own, one page at a time. Therefore, this will be a shorter review than usual...

The cover, is stunning and screams sex appeal. I'm not gonna lie to you and say that it isn't heavily driven by sex. What I wasn't prepared for was to what degree. Ream spends his days in and out of his head. He's haunted, broken and at constant battle with the demons he lives with. Some things that are meant to be beautiful,  in the wrong hands, can be anything but.

Kat and Ream are explosive. To say that it's "complicated" is an understatement. Enemies, lovers, friends, there isn't a category that they didn't fall under at one point or another. What I love most about this author, beginning with the first installment of this series, is the rawness. There is no fluff, no sugar coating. Her characters aren't bad, nor are they good.  Their lives, their pasts, their passions are raw, gritty and dirty.

Savor this read. Pour yourself a stiff drink, grab about a pound of chocolate and a couple boxes of Kleenex. Oh! and Ms. Rose....write faster! ;-)
