**Book was gifted by author in return for an honest review**

Margo has yet to write a book, that I have read that I didn't like. As a matter of fact when this book landed in my hands I had been bugging my contact about when Margo was coming out with another book! She's created a very interesting world, something I haven't read before. Which is very refreshing and what I love most about her stories.

When Lili returns to Houston to work for the CDC, she has no idea that the stories and warnings her grandmother told her long ago were something to uphold. She encounters a disease never heard of before. Then come the dreams, visions and voices. Lili can only go with her gut instincts to save these innocent lives.

That ending?! Talk about a cliff hangar! This novella is the perfect start to what I believe will be a
great series.
Sometimes the monsters in the dark are real...

As a child, Lili Banta ignored her grandmother's cryptic warnings to avoid children outside their Filipino community in Houston. When many of those other children fell ill, Lili ignored the whispers in her community that a vampiric aswang walked among them.

Years later, Lili returns to Houston to work for the Quarantine Station of the Center for Disease Control—but she is plagued by dark, bloody dreams that consume her nights and haunt her days. When a strange illness attacks the city's children, Lili is called in to find its source, and maybe even a cure.

But in order to save the city, she must first acknowledge the sinister truth: A monster stalks the night—closer than she ever expected....
Sitting straight up in bed, I gasped and threw myself back against the headboard, the thud dying away along with the remaining shreds of my dream.
But the word still ricocheted through my mind.
Until yesterday, I hadn't thought of the term in years—not since I'd left Houston for med school in Maine, determined to get as far away from home as I could.
But this resurgence of the same, odd illness that had swept my city years before was apparently also dredging up the old stories from deep in my subconscious: the aswang, a vampiric woman who lived a quiet life by day and fed on children in the night, flying back home on bat-wings just before dawn.
My unconscious mind had clearly also expanded on the idea, casting me in the role of aswang and adding schizoid conversations with a chorus of internal voices.
Great. I'm insane in my dreams.
And I'm a monster.
Shuddering, I wiped my hand across my gritty, raw eyelids.

"Though I was born a bastard, I try to be a reverent one."~Gavin

***Please note, I was gifted this book via the author in exchange for an honest review***

Aaaaand we're back on track! This. This is why I love this author, why I love this series, why I LOVE these brothers and the world around them. Soul Enslaved is book three in the Sons of Wrath series by author Keri Lake. This is Gavin's book and as the eldest of the brothers, the cool headed one, Soul Enslaved took him on one hell of a ride. He's damned if he does and damned (literally) if he doesn't. The striking demon has sentence after sentence after sentence looming over his head and how they all come together makes for a fantastic, highly emotional story.

I'll admit it, for the life of me, I can't quite decide who my favorite Wrath brother is. Just when I think I know, another brother will do something three shades of swoon worthy and then I drift. In this case, it was Ferno but more on him in a bit. Gavin, you gotta love Gavin. He's been my front runner since I first began this series and because I'm so protective of my favorite male leads, no woman would ever, EVER deserve him. Ever. While I still believe that to be true, I'll bend just enough to say...this pairing is one of my absolute faves of ALL TIME!!!

The chemistry between Gavin and Sabelle is so effortless and easy. It has an organic, playful, yet fiery feel to it that allows the reader to just sit back and enjoy. Ms. Lake didn't tell me, she showed me and for me, that's what sells me on a pairing. There are quite a few stand out scenes for me beginning with the first time he watched her paint, then the art show, then when she showed up at his office...LOL!!! Side note, Ferno and little Janie...sigh...yeah I need his story like YESTERDAY.

Don't get me wrong, this isn't all hearts and rainbows, Soul Enslaved touches on a topic that may prove difficult for some readers. It is highly emotional but I felt it was needed somehow, if not for the story at hand but for what is yet to come...

Why not 5 stars? I'm weird about the little things. The ethnic slang that hit me early on was a little much. I was glad to see it all but disappear as the story progressed. The term "raked her tongue against the back of her teeth" was repeated a bit much for my taste as well. I didn't all out LOVE the last installment of this series and a big reason for that was the onslaught of characters and terminology that I had to remember. I'm always a bit turned off by any book that starts me off with a glossary. Soul Enslaved turned it down a notch and allowed me to just enjoy and enjoy I did. Bring on the next brother!!!

Now I’m a prisoner of my own doing, hiding behind a false mask so no one sees the truth. Not even the man I want but can’t have—Deck. But I messed up and the lies are spilling over, out of control. Deck is unrelenting and will settle for nothing less than the truth. He demands everything from me—EVERYTHING—even if it rips me apart. DECK I kill for a living. Unyielding—It’s how I survive in my line of work. I bend people to my will…except Georgie. But that ends now. I've played her game for far too long, but not anymore. Now I think it's time we play mine. *18+ due to sexual content, strong language and violence.

3 out of 5 stars

Perfect Chaos (Unyielding #1) is a spinoff of the rocker series Tear Asunder. If you haven't yet read that series, I suggest you put it at the very top of you Christmas wish list! Every single installment has been a 5 star read for me. I can't wait for the next one!

Perfect Chaos is Georgie and Deck's story and one that I've been anxiously waiting to get my hands on since I met them in Tear Asunder. Georgie, the question mark and Deck, the ticking time bomb. Put the two together and you get, well...chaos.

I liked getting a more detailed look at their history, one that goes back to when Georgie was still in high school and Deck being her older brother Connor's best friend. While, Perfect Chaos is a promising start to this new series,  I couldn't help but feeling some disappointment that I couldn't quite connect to these characters that I already felt invested in. Would I have enjoyed this first installment more had I not yet read Tear Asunder? Maybe.

Georgie was shattered by the death of her big brother Connor and her world has been in turmoil ever since. She's drowning in a world that she doesn't fully understand and once again it's Deck to the rescue. He, however, has secrets and fears of his own.

All the key components are present, lost girl, alpha male, chaos, suspense and A LOT of steamy sex scenes. Unfortunately, even though Deck's sex appeal is OFF. THE. CHARTS. it became a little too much and stunted the pace of the story. Nashoda Rose continues to be one of my favorite authors and now TWO of her series to follow, win/win.
