Torn from You Blog Tour Banner
Love is like an avalanche. It hits hard, fast and without mercy. At least it did for me when Sculpt, the lead singer of the rock band Tear Asunder knocked me off my feet. Literally, because he’s also a fighter, illegally of course, and he taught me how to fight. He also taught me how to love and I fell hard for him. I mean the guy could do sweet, when he wasn't doing bossy, and I like sweet. Then it all shattered. Kidnapped. Starved. Tied up like a piece of meat then whipped. I was alone and fighting to survive. When I heard Sculpt's voice, I thought he was there to save me. I was wrong. Sculpt was there to break me. *Warning: This book contains some disturbing situations, strong language and sexual content. No cliffhanger and next in the Tear Asunder series is Ream's story (the band's lead guitarist). Meet the Author Nashoda Rose lives in Toronto with her assortment of pets. ~***MY REVIEW***~

My rating: 5 out of 5 stars

***Please note, this book was gifted to me by the author via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review***
"You made me fear you. You made me fear myself. You locked me inside myself so deep that it took me months to break free again."~Eme

So...the following will be my attempt to not only do this book justice but to also do it with the minimal amount of cursing. Those of you know who know me realize that in itself should earn me a cookie, brownie, bottle of wine...SOMETHING! Anywho...
Torn From You is book one of the Tear Asunder series by Nashoda Rose. I strongly advise that you read With You, the prequel, before fully diving into Sculpt's and Emily's story. Their introduction and back story had me as giddy as a school girl, I mean in our hero we have both a prize street fighter AND a musician! (again, those who know me...yeah.) But then the switch flipped and this story took an extremely dark turn with my already beloved hero at the center of it all.
In a way, I'm not even sure how to go about writing a review for this book for anything I may touch on could spoil it for my readers. Let me say this much, there are twists and turns and endless "WTF?!?!" moments that kept me on edge right to the end. Torn From You is my OFFICIAL mind-fuck for 2013. This book is as hard to read as it is to try to put down. The author pushes the envelope, crosses lines and blurs everything in between.
Sculpt. This is how you write an ALPHA male lead. I love an alpha male just as much as the next girl but I will say, I'm not a fan of particular authors that are considered the experts of this particular breed of heroes. I often find their alpha-ness screams asshole more than anything else. No thanks. Sculpt on the other hand...I mean yeah, he is as grey a character as they come and to say he made some questionable choices is an UBER understatement but I couldn't hate him. Not even when I wanted to throat punch him in rapid successions could I hate him. He's firm, without being pushy, passionate, without being overbearing. He is the perfect balance.
On the flip side we have Emily (aka Eme) who would have to be one of my top 5 heroines of the year. Another issue that I tend to have with alpha heavy book is that to make him the big bad man, the heroine is reduced to the shy, quivering house plant who's doing good to put one foot in front of the other. This is much more than the basic, he loves me...he loves me not type of novel. Emily is put in an unimaginable situation and does her very best to come out on the other side. She's strong but remains soft and vulnerable. She's very relateable and a  refreshing change in a genre that doesn't always shed the best light on it's female leads.

The supporting cast isn't reduced to a handful of fillers. I want to know more about each and every one of them. The author did a great job laying the foundation in regards to the future couples and the bumpy road they'll have to travel to get there. I loved that the POV switched from Emily to Sculpt a little towards the end. It was nice to get into his head a little but had the author done it from the beginning, the back and forth would have been too much so kudos on that. The balance and pacing was smooth and flawless.

Torn From You is a dark, erotic romance that contains graphic scenes and situations that may be offensive to some readers.
