Just me and my Kindle!

I know not everyone is on the Kindle train. I too was hesitant. I love books. The feel of them, the smell. I held out for quite awhile. Even now, my favorites of favorites, I own both the kindle addition and the hard/paperback. I like the look of certain books on my shelves. I can't deny the convience of my Kindle though. The freebies alone makes it worth it. I've stumbled upon so many amazing indie writers that I may never have known had it not been for my Kindle.

I started with just downloading the app to my desktop. Before I knew it I had over 30 free books. Good books. Most were free, some .99. Have you been to a book store lately??!!

Amazon's freebie list is constantly changing but here are some of the most recent free downloads I've loaded to my kindle. Just click the title to be taken directly to amazon.com. Enjoy!

My Lady Taken (Archangels) by Shirl Anders

Vampires in Devil Town by Wayne Hixon

REVIEW-STORM'S HEART BY THEA HARRISON

Storm's Heart (Elder Races, #2)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"I will have every part of you, until I live with you underneath your skin."~Tiago

*I won this book via a Goodreads giveaway. In stores August 2nd!!*

Storm's Heart is the second installment of Thea Harrison's The Elder Races series. I was so impressed with Dragon Bound that I actually had reservations about this one. I was'nt sure it could keep the pace. I could'nt have been more wrong.

Storm's Heart is Tiago and Trick's story. We only briefly meet Tiago in Dragon Bound but Tricks definately made her mark. Even then, I knew she was a character I wanted to more about so I was thrilled with this book.

Tricks is the heir to the Dark Fae and not everyone wants to see her make it to the thrown. Multiple assassination attempts prompts the need for protection. That protection arrives in the form of a massive, thunder and lightening weidling wyr sentinal. Who also happens to be sexy as hell. In a very raw, edgy menacing kind of way.

This book is as funny as it is sexy. Tiago is the uber alpha male, super sized. He's such an intimidating force to be reckoned with but at the same time, everytime he called her "faerie", I melted a little.

I am so in love with this series and Storm's Heart set up book 3 (Rune's book) in such a perfect way, I can't wait. Well done.

REVIEW-DRAGON BOUND BY THEA HARRISON

Dragon Bound (Elder Races, #1)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"I'm going to eat you until you scream."~Dragos

Did that get your attention? Yeah, thought so. I'm new to Ms. Harrison's world but I am sold. On the cover, you'll note a quote from JR Ward stating that fans of her Black Dagger Brotherhood will enjoy Dragon Bound. Ms. Ward, I too am hooked.

Pia Giovanni tries to keep a low profile. Desperate to keep her mothers last wish to simply blend in, in order to keep herself safe. Such a life can be a lonely one. Letting her guard, even a little, for the wrong guy changes Pia's life forever. Not only is she in danger but she is being hunted by the most feared predator her world knows. And it's all over one. stolen. penny.

Dragos Cuelebre is a feared, respected force to be reckoned with. What's his, he holds dear and you do not cross him. When he realizes his hoard has been compromised, someone is going to pay. Dragos and his little theif have a questionable pull that neither understand. This launches the story into many twists and steamy hot turns. I laughed, I aww'ed, and I had to bring my heartrate back down more than once.

The two leads are written perfectly against one another. She's no weak heroine and Dragos, well, Dragos takes the term "alpha male" to another level. Rough around the edges does'nt even begin to describe it. There's a primal/animalistic edge to him that just might burn you if you get to close. Literally.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY WEEKEND!!!!

I wanted to take a minute to wish everyone a very happy and safe 4th of July weekend! Thank you to all the men and women (past, present and future) both on American soil and abroad for devoting your life to ensure our country remains free and protected.  You are our heros.
On that note, while we spend this weekend with friends and family, enjoying our freedom, let us remember that freedom is for us all. Every man, woman and child is entitled to that freedom regardless of race, age, creed, class or sexual orientation. Love and let love, and then love some more. It's a beautiful thing.

REVIEW-ETERNAL HEARTS BY JENNIFER TURNER

Eternal Hearts (A Darkness Within)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Fifteen it is."~Drake

Yum. That's the first word that comes to mind in regards to Drake Black. Drake is the hottie hybrid indroduced briefly in book 1, Eternal Seduction. Drake is a notorious assassin who is now contracted to protect a spit fire Latina named Toni. Toni has been banned from her home city (Chicago)for the past three years due to a violent rampage that threatened the Veil in her hometown.

What I loved most about this book was getting to know Drake's personality a bit more. He made me laugh throughout this entire book. While I love his backstory, I wish there had been a bit more of it. Due to his background, his origins, I would like to have had more on that. While the ultimate self loather, his personality is addicting. With each page, I found myself grinning, wondering, what was going to come out of his mouth next.

I liked Toni for the most part. I loved how she, unknowingly drove Drake to look at himself a little closer. While a very emotional character, she also stood toe to toe with the various male characters throughout. I think my only downside is there was an opportunity to for her to be the indedpendent kick ass heroine. The reader knows she's been on her own for three years but the second she returns to Chicago, she, in a way is catered to and I would have more preferred her runnign solo on her mission to investige as the Lord of Chicago had instructed.

Oktober is also a character we learn a bit more about and I must say, I'm fascinated. I believe his book is next. I hope there's more build up for him than there was for Drake in this installment. I love the world that Ms. Turner has created.
