Eternal Seduction (A Darkness Within, #1)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

"testosterone driven penile fever"

This book was fantastic. The author took everything I've come to expect form the typical PNR read and flipped it inside out and upside down. We all know the "typical" drill. Girl spies sexy, brooding, mystery man and heart goes pitter patter. Said mystery man can't risk the fragile human and fights how he's drawn to her but must protect her at all cost while waxing poetic in her ear while doing a poor job keeping the stuborn human at arms length. Sound familiar? Well, Eternal Seduction is is like that....but on crack. OR...should I say heroine?

Our heroine (Logan)is a heroin addict. Point blank, no sugar coating, she's a mangy addict who pretty much does'nt give 2 shits about the world around her. That being said, wether she cares or not does'nt blind her to her surroundings. As a homeless addict wondering the NYC streets at all hours, Logan is bound to see more than she's supposed to.

Enter Kerestyan Nelek, the vampiric Lord of NYC who must keep his city safe. Humans are'nt to know what lurks the streets while they sleep. Yet here's this little addict that knows way beyond what any human should be allowed to know. Such knowledge usually means death but he can't quite make up his mind. He's baffled because while death looms, Logan can't be bothered. Her "meh...whatever." attitude is something his ancient mind can't fathom.

The two leads in this book are so well written with fantastic chemistry. This is'nt your typical love story. The banter between the two, the somewhat role reversal in some aspects is truly refreshing. The sex scenes sizzle and "K" is sexy vamp personified.

Lord Kerestyan comes from the very powerful Nelek family. In this installment, we are introduced to siblings and his father. My favorite being twin brother Odin. Odin is such a powerful character. He's a scene stealer and I hope that he gets his own book somewhere along the line. He's strong, powerful and has not an ounce of tact. He truly had me laughing out loud throughout the entire book. That's not to say he's a cartoon of a character. Odin is very protective of his twin and will not tolerate anything less that what "K" deserves. Just don't call him Greek. Ever. Serious. :)

I have had the privilege to read some really amazing books in the past couple of months. Discovering authors that I've never heard of before, brand new series. It's been an exciting experience. Courtney Cole is the author of Every Last Kiss (The Bloodstone Saga #1). You can find my review here. While this series is considered YA, I found it refreshing and not at all too immature to keep my interest. I've found that I tend to walk a fine line when it comes to my YA reads but this was a nice balance and an intriguing storyline.

What would you do if you held fate in your hands?

Macy Lockhart is a normal girl with an abnormal bird-shaped birthmark on her wrist. She doesn’t even think twice about the odd marking until strange things begin happening to her and an anonymous gift is left on her doorstep… a beautiful, blood-red pendant. A bloodstone.
It isn’t long before she is surrounded by craziness… ancient high priests, visions and memories that she can’t explain. And that’s just the beginning.

She quickly comes to the realization that the bloodstone wasn’t just given to her… it was returned to her. It has been hers all along, for thousands of years. She has lived hundreds of lives and all of them have been important.
But before she can even come to terms with that craziness, she is forced to return to one of them that was particularly tragic….a previous doomed life where she lived as Cleopatra’s handmaiden, Charmian.

Fate, the very thing that she is born to protect, is being threatened in a way that would destroy history as we know it. The fate of the world literally sits on her shoulders. But of course, just handling that small issue would be too easy.
Unless she interferes with destiny, her soul-mate will die. Can she really stand aside and allow the love of her life to die all over again?

Rock Hard (Sinners on Tour #2)
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

"Help me find you Jess."~Sed

Just stand there and look pretty. That was my thought more than once in regards to poor Sed. Nothing comes out right. Ever. Gorgeous lead singer of rock bad "Sinners", Sed puts the "group" in groupies. Never just one woman at a time, it takes an entourage. Every woman at his feet, except the one that got away, but not before she hurled her ring at him and told him what he could do with it. While he has'nt seen her in two years, she's never far from his mind, he keeps her picture close and often loses himself in it when he thinks no one is watching.

What should be a happy occassion ultimately turns into an all out brawl as Sed spies Jessica in the last place he ever imagined. This creates a ripple effect for not only Sed and Jessica but other members of the band.

This was another great read in this Sinners On Tour series. Sed is as hot as he is infuriating. Just when you're ready to wash your hands of him, he would say "You're yelling" , that boyish charm slips, the dimples appear and it's back to swooning over Sed. He is his own worst enemy. I love the dynamic between he and Jessica and how they play off of one another. The reader gets to see the softer side of Sed even if he has an ass backwards way of showing it.

This installment takes on a more serious tone due to some injuries and repercussions of those injuries. How the band came together in the midst of it all made them that much more endearing to me.

While the romantic pairings and sex scenes in this series is scorching hot, for me, it takes backseat to the band itself. The best relationship is that of the band members with one another. There is a scene where Eric is driving Sed home and the back and forth between them is just perfect. I laughed out loud, the duct tape....

They're like brothers. They fight, bitch and moan but love each other to a fault. There is one band member in particular who's love goes beyond and he just breaks my heart. I can't wait for Ms. Cunning to releast book 3!

Backstage Pass (Sinners on Tour, #1)

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I decided to take a little break from my vamps when goodreads friend Rachel suggested this series. I figured rock stars are the next best thing to vamps anyway so why not? I expected this to simply be a fast paced, smut fest (Rachel loves her smut! *wink*). That's exactly what this is, but with HEART.

I absolutely loved this book. It had it all, SEX (and I do mean HAWT sex), romance, love, humor...I could go on and on. It was an emotional rollercoaster for me because not only does it quicken your heart rate but there are so many laugh out loud moments and "awww" moments as well.

Myrna is the female lead who basically leads a very plain, boring life as a psychology professor. That is until she spies her favorite rock band drinking in they bar of her hotel. While smitten by the boys looks, it's Brian, aka "Master Sinclair" that really catches her eye. He's the drunk one....on the floor. Myrna has a dangerous past that has basically caused her to shut down emotionally but physically....she can't resist the allure of Mr. Sinclair.

Brian "Master" Sinclair. There are no words. Rock god, sex on a stick, "romantic retard". :) Brian's heart has been nothing but broken. Over and over again. Myrna gets under his skin immediately. On a level that suprises even him. And worries his closest friends and bandmates. They're tired of seeing his heart broken, even though one of them has contributed it.

I have to admit that I'm still not completely sold on Myrna. On one hand, she's a strong female lead, on the other hand, I wanted to just shake her at times. I get her initial reservations, given her past but OMG.....what's it gonna take?? FLASH CARDS?...but I digress...

Supporting cast is fantastic. I love each and every one of the bandmates. I think I'm especially drawn to Trey, can't wait to read his full story. Eric...who is always banging his head..repeatedly, he made me laugh out loud. Sed, lead singer and resident ass...still pulled on my heart strings a bit, can't wait to read his book next.

This book is definately an "erotic" read. I don't know that I've ever read a book that managed to squeeze in so much sex. And believe me when I say, it is done in every single possible way that I could ever imagine. Granted, some sex scenes were'nt my bag per say. I mean, there are some things that I just WILL. NOT. DO. That being said, it did'nt turn me off from the characters or the book in the slightest. Without spoiling, I will say that there is a threesome and while not my thing, it was a highlight for me but only because an emotional connection was revealed plainly for the first time. That, broke my heart a little and reminded me of another pairing from a totally different book/author/series. Apparently, I've got vamps on the brain at all times, no matter what I'm reading!

Can't wait to start book 2. Love me some rockstars with big hearts, not to mention, I now have an odd fascination with ketchup........

"The little kitten has claws," Dorian said intrigued. "I like that."~Dorian Vlakhos

I am so in love with this book. I will admit, the cover gave me pause. I'm just glad I did'nt allow me to miss out on such an amazing book. I have found yet another "sex in motion" type of male lead in Dorian Vlakhos. He is perfectly written, perfect within his flaws. He is a cursed Vampire King who is on a mission to save his people. Around town, however, he's known as the aristocrat with a very naughty reputation and the ability to turn every female head in his vicinity. Why he can ruin a ladies reputation with just one dance. in motion.

Tragedy strikes, leading Victoria Kingston and her little sister Margaret on the doorstep of their bitter old Aunt Nelly. Victoria is a disgrace to the family name and Aunt Nelly wants her gone. She must marry within 30 days or never see her little sister again. With little Margaret being Victoria's whole world, she sets out on a mission to find a husband.

The two worlds collide when Dorian spies Victoria for the first time at a social event. It was lust at first sight and he was determined to get her into his bed. He was'nt prepared to be challenged and met toe to toe by this fiesty lovely. She knew the rumors and told him as much. She was on a mission and could'nt be bothered with his sexual conquests. Even though he stirred feelings in her that she never knew existed.

I would best describe Caressed by Moonlight as an erotic, historical, paranormal romance. For me, this equalls win/win. The author really brought the chemistry off the page. The battle of the wits made for such an entertaining read. This book has some exceptionally hot and steamy sex scenes while at the same time, building on such a raw, romantic love story, it was so easy to get lost in this book. It has everything, sexy vamps, strong women, romance, action and a great supporting cast. Ms. Greene's take on Dorian's history, how he was changed was just...perfect.

I cannot wait for Caressed by Night to be released!! Brilliant.

La Luxure: Discover Your Blood Lust (Book 1)
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

*Please note that the author provided me with this book to read and review. That being said, the fact that I got it for free, has nothing to do with the fact that I absolutely LOVED this book.

La Luxure takes place in modern day New Orleans. The author did an amazing job of painting the city and providing the reader with rich detail and the spirit that is The French Quarters.

Julia is a smart, single woman in N.O. on business. She is an engineer and post Katrina N.O. just makes sense, to hold a conference for those in her field. Jane has a quirky, radical sister and furry friend at home and that's about it. She's had no luck at love and spends most of her free time reading PNR novels. There was a nod to the Black Dagger Brotherhood that had me unleashing my fan girl squeal.

Julia sees this business trip as an opportunity to let her hair down, reinvent herself and live a little. While out sight seeing, Julia's visit becomes much more intersting....and questionable. From an odd card reading to stumbling into a Goth bar named La Luxure, Julia finds herself drawn to the dark, mysterious Armand. She knows she should run, but in which direction? Towards him or as far into the other direction as her feet can take her.

Armand is pure, raw, sex in motion. That much is obvious. What's not so obvious is who and what is he exactly? Aside from being the owner of Luxure, Julia soons finds out he is also an important figure head in a "Community" that she knows nothing about. After on of Luxure's regulars is found dead and drained, Julia becomes fearful of what she's gotten herself into and even more fearful that she can't seem to just walk away.

This book was nothing short of fascinating. Loved Julia as the female lead. She's well written and you can't help but to pull for her. Armand of course is just Dee. Lish. Us. The sex scenes are scorching hot, I mean FILTHY hot. But at the same time, the banter between the two leads, no matter the what emotion happens to be between them at the moment, it's just so charming end endeearing. Even the supporting cast is memorable. I loved Cindi the bartender, Mike the ass and even Dave. The scene where Julia's two "worlds" collided at the parade was priceless!

I was pleasently thrown against the wall as the main "twist" of this book unveiled itself in the last few chapters. Completely blindsided and thrilled at the same time. I simply cannot wait for de Sang to come out. C.D. Hussey is an author to watch. Spectacular.

Breaking Dawn Pt. 1

While November is still a few months away, BD fever is already stirring. If you tuned in to this past Sundays MTV Movie Awards, you were treated to the first Breaking Dawn Part 1 trailer. I watched, I DVR'ed, I all but threw a party.

Granted, I know The Twilight Saga is'nt everyone's cup of tea but I am a fan. Both of the books and the movies. Could the movies EVER be as good as the books? No, of course not but I do enjoy them. I will say, I've questioned some casting choices, as well as wardrobe decisions but, all in all, I'm a total fan girl to the Saga.

I love the look of the new trailor. I love that  author Stephenie Meyer,  screenwriter Melissa Rosenburg and producer, Wyck Godfrey all at the wedding. The honeymoon scenes look great (especially at 1:18 of the 1:59. Just sayin'............) I'm also loving that "Edward" finally gets to really put his hands on, not just "Bella", but "Jacob" (I had to look closely to make sure that was him) as well! Bout time...but I digress.

So, for those who ARE fans of the movies, what do you think of the new trailer?

Howling for My Baby (Cannon Pack, #1)

My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This book started off really slow for me. Even once I was able to start getting into it, I immediately developed a love/hate relationship with the book. I think the initial idea had enormous possibility but the author never really pulled it all together. She forced too much humor, alot of which was'nt even funny.

One would expect their favorite character(s) to be the female or male lead, if not both. In this case, I did'nt care for either. Granted, Jason had his moments but Syd was exhausting and annoying. I found Syd's parents to be the most interesting of all the characters, and the most tolerable. I still don't know if I like Benji (Jason's gay sidekick). He too had his moments but the author literally dug up each and every gay stereotype and had him smothering in it. She just laid it on too thick, making him more of a cartoon. He had so much promise.

The sex scenes were ok. Though, the whole, taking on a Nazi accent....I just found that revolting. I'm no prude but that's not hot.

I do not expect to continue on with this series.

Absolutely LOVED this book. I was lucky enough to recieve a pdf file from Ms. Mayburn to read and review.
Eliana is the typical college girl. Rushing to class, part time job, quirky roommate, and a huge crush on her new hot professor. What Eliana does'nt know is that she's special, in line to become a Chosen of the Gods. Gods that Eliana herself is'nt sure she believes in. Being raised by two atheist parents, she can't help but to question.

Aiden (aka Mr. Klemenson) recongnizes one of his own almost immediately, for he too is a Chosen. What he was'nt counting on was his pull towards her. He has to focus, do his job as her Mentor, while keeping his hormones and heart in check.

Eliana is a great female lead. Ms. Mayburn kept her youthful without becoming childish. She's both strong and soft, a force to be reckoned with. I love that Ms. Mayburn developed the sexual tension right out the gate, the forbidden aspect of it and the threats such tension could generate.

I appreciated all the popculture references while maintaining the seriousness of the storyline. I especially liked the fact that Crissy (Eliana's roommate)noted her mom teaching a Zumba class on the weekend. Kept the book modern without becoming cheesy.

The sex scenes in this book are off the charts. HOT without coming across as raunchy. Very sensual and engaging but very raw and primal at the same time.

This book also has a great supporting cast. Crissy is a delight, Devon and his mother raise questions, and Jack (Aiden's best friend) was very close to steeling the entire show as he became a stronger presence in the storyline. I absolutely loved his character, his humor. Just perfect. I hope he continues to be a large part of this series.

Overall, this was a fantastic beginning to a series. whose possibilities are endless. Simply delicious. Brava.

Fan Fic Friday-Lover Redeemed

It's FRIDAY!!! That means more fantastic fanfic to get your weekend started right. This week, my choice fanfic is based on The Black Dagger Brotherhood's "QHUAY" *insert fangirl squeal* I'm addicted to the pair and I'm not alone. I am so thankful for all the great writers out there, providing us with fanfic in the meantime.....

Recently on goodreads, a poster questioned why such a strong fanbase? What is it about these two,  in particular that create such a passionate following. I mean, they have'nt even had their HEA. Yet here we are....on pins and needles...waiting. Patiently. (OR NOT) *wink*

My response was this.....

For me, it's the raw vulnerablitly of the two. The other pairings, while HOT and the chemistry is off the charts, alot of it was "chemical" right out the gate but built from there. With Qhuay, it was the opposite. Their "dance" is a slow burn and it blurs that fine line between a deep rooted friendship and an explosive passion. Both walking that tight rope is a beautiful thing to "witness" for me the reader.

How about you? What is it about "Qhuay"? While you think on it, enjoy todays read from LILY
